the year in clears #01: BBB'24 game 21 - timespinner

this game is just about the most nothing game I have played in a couple of years.

regrettably, there's not much to say. it might be fun to randomize, but I don't think the game as it is does or says anything terribly interesting or memorable. the scope is too small for it to wear out its welcome, per se, but it's also too small for any sense of actual progression. the first movement upgrade I got was a double jump, the second the ability to sink into water a la Aria of Sorrow's Scylla soul, and the third the ability to... it's Black Panther from Aria of Sorrow. it's the zoomies.

there is nothing more complicated than that in the platforming or navigation, and the combat is similarly flat; my eventual build was throwing a rapid multi-hit orb at things and that basically solved everything I came into contact with. I hope the sequel is a bit more robust, in all mechanical senses, and has a bit more going for it narratively, too. I don't think I'll be picking it up unless I hear it's outstanding, though.
